A joint venture is going to be undertaken
by the DGHC's tourism wing and the Hotel and Restaurant Association
of Kalimpong
to represent Kalimpong and its surrounding areas as an attractive
tourist destination.
The organizers met today in order to discuss
the steps required to be taken to improve the experience of
tourists visiting the region. It is decided that standardized
taxi fees, improved road condition and properly trained guides
will help succeed the plan.
The President of the Hotel and Restaurant
Association of Kalimpong, Mr. Amod Yonzon added that they
have got assurance of help from tourism department and the
association is thinking about creating new attractions for
the tourists.
The proposals placed before DGHC include, introduction of
licensed porters, trained guides and awareness about heritage
sites of the region.
