The Skipper of Team India Sourav Ganguly and his deputy
Rahul Dravid will come to Siliguri on 9th August with the noble intention of increasing awareness about
the forests and wildlife of North Bengal. The urban Development and
Municipal Affairs Minister Mr. Ashok Bhattacharya declared this.
In this regard Mr. Bhattacharya added
that the other members of Indian Team would also take part in this
mission. According to the local environmental lobbies the popularity
of the International cricketers will help a lot in raising the funds
and will also make more people involved in this initiative.
This is the second time when the members of the Indian senior cricket
team are getting involved in this type of project. Sourav and some
of his teammates represented Darjeeling
Tea as the brand ambassador in the international market.
A Rs.12 lakhs project of Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority of a Cricket Museum named as 'Kriradipti'
will also be inaugurated by Sourav and Rahul. The newest sensation
of Indian Team Irfan Pathan will accompany them. The Minister added
that this is the first time when something new of this kind is going
to happen outside Kolkata. It has come to know that the museum will
exhibit the cricket gears of Sourav and other international cricketers.
