Kalimpong, Nov. 1: A local club has unveiled
a list of programmes it will host from November 7 to promote
the concept of a cleaner Kalimpong.
Among the events lined up are a signature
campaign and an award for the cleanest shop in the town. This
will be followed by a marathon titled Run for Clean Kalimpong
in December.
Pasang N. Sherpa, the coordinator of Gorkha
Youth Club, which is organising the programmes, said: `Kalimpong
has seen a lot of changes over the years. More tourists are
coming every year. However, we often receive complaints from
tourists regarding the lack of cleanliness here. We need to
correct this if we want tourists to keep coming.`
`We will collect signatures on a banner
that will be hung on the main road and serve as a reminder
to the people that we need greater civic awareness,` said
Sherpa.
