Gangtok, Nov. 3: The state capital got
its first luxury hotel when the Royal Plaza, managed by the
Sarovar Park Plaza group of hotels and resorts, opened its
doors today.
Social welfare minister of Assam Gautam
Roy inaugurated the hotel, which has been promoted by M.K.
Subba, the Congress MP from Tezpur in Assam and is franchised
to the Sarovar Park Plaza group.
The 60-room hotel is located in Syari, a
suburb of Gangtok, and has suites, a multicuisine restaurant,
bar, two board rooms, banquet hall and business centre. General
manager of Royal Plaza Shiv Kumar told The Telegraph that
the hotel would aim at fulfilling the highest standards in
hospitality. `We will provide five-star luxury without charging
five- star rates,` he said.
The hotel has parking facilities for more
than 50 cars, something that is uncommon to other hotels in
the town. The Sarovar Park Plaza group operates more than
30 hotels around the globe.
