The Home Minister Mr. Shivraj Patil will
reach Gangtok tomorrow with a tight schedule for his three
days stay in Sikkim. The ruling Govt. of Sikkim will present
a detail memorandum on the important issues like the seat
reservation for the Limbus and Tamangs and the increase of
assembly seats from 32 to 40 and some other important economic
issues related to the state.
The home minister is expected to visit the
Smritivan and Himalayan Zoological Park after lunch at Raj
Bhavan. He will also inaugurate the flower festival at Whitehall
complex and visit the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology at Gangtok.
In tomorrow evening the home minister will meet with Chief
Minister of Sikkim Mr. Pawan Chamling and the other governing
body of the state cabinet. A meeting with the general officer
commanding, 17th Mountain Division Mr. Avadesh Prakash will
follow on the same day. The Home Minister will fly to Namchi
on Sunday and there he will visit the statue of Guru Rimpoche
at Samdruptse in South Sikkim. He will also visit the Teesta
Stage Project of the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation
at Balutar. A meeting will be held on the Sunday evening with
the state congress president Mr. Nar Bhadur Bhandari and a
28 member delegation when he visits the party headquarter
at Jeewan Theeng Marg. He will also inaugurate the upgraded
Palzor stadium and attend a public reception at the Tashi
Namgyal Academy on the same day. On Monday the home minister
will leave for Agartala after flying to Nathula.
