Garden ties up with tour operator

The tea gardens are actively pursuing the idea of Tea tourism to save the tottering tea gardens. Along with support from the government, individual gardens have also announced tea tourism and the private sector is entering the field to push the tea and tourism together.

A tourism company from Siliguri along with Marionbarie Tea Company Ltd have agreed to sell the tea and tourism together. The venture is especially for the nature lovers who come here to stay at least one night at Siliguri amid the abundance of nature. The marionbarie Tea Company Ltd. Which is just 21 km. from the Bagdogra airport and the tourist can enjoy their holidays in a large room decorated with antique furniture. There are three large rooms in the garden which will be open for the tourists. The tourists will come here to taste the teesta tea and to have a feel of nature. They will be able to get the view of Himalaya. The tourism industry are trying to provide some packages which will covers the places like Bamonpokhri range of the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary (2.5 km from the tea estate), garden factory, Rohini, a new tourist destination (8 km away from the tea estate), Mirik (29 km from the tea estate), Dudhia (4 km from the tea estate) etc. The state Govt. has announced the idea of tea and tourism in the end of the last year. Seven tea gardens have been shortlisted by the authorities to start tourism. The tea garden are like Panighatta estate in Darjeeling’s Mirik block, Samsing and Hilla gardens by the Murti river, and Chalsa, Mohua and Phaskowa estates. To set the unique combination of tea and tourism, a plane which worth Rs. 18 crore was sanctioned. In his recent visit to the Jalpaiguri Mr. Buddhadev Bhattarcherjee said that the Govt. is all set to develop the tea tourism and it will increase the economic condition of the garden and also generate the employment for local youth. Several tourists both domestic and international are interested to visit tea garden. The tour operators are very much interested to provide several packages in the tea garden and they will recently launch the honeymoon package.
