11 isolated forest villages are set to
get connected in Buxa hill area. The residents are going to
get a new road which will connect these villages with one
another. A budget of Rs. 30 crores has been set aside by the
local administration under the Integrated Tribal Development
Project.
Mr. Subbaiah, the district Magistrate of
Jalpaiguri District said that Govt has approved to the plan
sent by the district authorities about the project. This will
make life much easier for the local residents of the villages
of Buxa hills. The district magistrate said that authorities
had taken up another projects of Rs. 50 lakhs which will be
used under the Sampurna Gramin Rojgar Yojna and it will be
spent to construct a 2.5 km. long, 3-m wide motorable road
between Santlabari and Jainti point. A multipurpose centre
in Sadar Bazar will be constructed and for that Rs. 6 lakhs
will be spent. Among other projects 2 lakhs will be used to
build a resting area in Jainti point. A picnic spot also will
be introduced there. The motorable road will be constructed
under the jurisdiction of the Buxa Tiger Reserve authorities.
The district authority also has upcoming projects to provide
drinking water for the rural people.
