Jalpaiguri, Aug 1:Two
young members of Jalpaiguri Nature and Trekker’s Club
(JNTC), Bhaskar Das and Sujoy Bhowmik, climbed to the summit
of Gangstang (6,162 mts) on July 29.
`Bad weather could not deter the enthusiasm
of Bhaskar and Sujoy, and they further set up two camps in
higher altitudes before reaching the summit. We received the
news of their triumph at 11:20 am on July 29`, said Badal
Debnath. He was one among the four members from Keylong, a
hill hamlet in Himachal Pradesh.
On July 15, led by Bhaskar Das, the four-member
team started from Jalpaiguri alongwith Pinaki Sengupta. Their
destination was Gangstang, a Himalayan peak located in the
Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh.
`We had less than one month to prepare for
the expedition because of late permission provided to us by
the Indian Mountaineering Foundation. But they have made us
proud`, said Pinaki. |
