Travel news of North East India

Dooars thronged by surprise tourists

Siliguri, Aug 3: Even two months before the Pujas, the local tourism industry is glad that the festive season has already begun for them.

The tour operators are witnessing an unprecedented rush for the Pujas to well known destinations in the Dooars area. The hotels and lodges are fully booked for the main Puja days, beginning on October 9.

It was never like this before is what tour operators and hotel owners are exclaiming with delight.

According to Samrat Sanyal, secretary of Eastern Himalayan Travel and Tour Operators Association (EHTTOA), the number of tourists visiting to Dooars has increased this year and they were even looking at lesser-known spots around the Dooars region.

The reason for the rush has also been attributed to the various discounts offered by airlines this year. It seems that for the travel and tour industry of North-Bengal off-season has become a thing of the past.
