Another Tea Estate crying again: Raipur

Jalpaiguri, Aug 4: The life of workers at the Raipur Tea Estate is in a miserable state, to say the least. The management has abandoned them after July 4 and locked up the factory.

It was some relief when, Spandan, a local NGO, visited the garden workers with doctors, medicines and baby food. The workers came in large numbers for a check-up. It was found that they were suffering from malnutrition, malaria and gastro-enteritis.

The Block Development Officer of Jalpaiguri also made a surprise visit to the garden with his staff members and heard to some complaints by the workers regarding their wretched condition.
