Guwahati,
Aug 21: Guwahati is about to host a first-of-its-kind
in the region, tourism and travel expo called Utsav 2005,
to offer the North-East a palette of tourism options and showcase
the region to the eyes of tour-operators in India and abroad
as well.
Since, great holidays meant being at the
right destination, at the right time and with the right amount
of preparation, the expo will be conducted with that formula
in mind. The three-day event is scheduled to be held next
month at the Dr T. Ao Indoor Stadium, located within the Cotton
College campus.
A seminar and a workshop on promotion of
tourism are to be held in the expo. Also, new products and
services related to adventure tourism is also expected to
be launched.
The Assam Tourism Department and a private
organisation called Purbanchal Paryattan will join hands to
organise the expo. During the current financial year, Delhi,
has granted Assam Rs 10.15 worth of projects including development
of adventure-tourism in Kaziranga and eco-tourism in Kokrajhar.
The organisers hope that the expo will encourage
local, national and international tour operators to develop
packages for inbound and outbound tours. The objective is
to provide a portal of information on tourism and related
trade activities within a single window. |
