A Gurgaon touch to Siliguri

Siliguri, Aug 29: Siliguri is about to get a major face-lift to the likes of metropolitan cities and a magnificent cityscape to boast of, soon - and that too, from none other than the great, Hafiz Contractor.

Once upon a time, Siliguri was a nondescript town comprised of even more nondescript paras. It has come a long way since. North City - the proposed name of the residential complex in Second Mile, Sevoke Road will change all that.
The residential complex is built by Sathi Builders, one of the partners of the Vishwakarma Group - a consortium of builders in Siliguri. Dilip Agarwal, the director of the construction company said, `We wanted to create the best residential complex in the state, therefore, we chose the nation`s best architect`. The designer is now working on the finer details of the plan which is proposed to be finalised by September.

Hafiz Contractor has created some of the best-known structures in the country like hotels, plush offices, hospitals and shopping malls. Among them are the DLF Belvedere Towers, DLF Belvedere Park, headquarters of Nestle in Gurgaon, the Ericsson office and Hyatt Regency in Mumbai.

The project promises to associate itself with many `firsts` in the region. It will have the tallest buildings in the region - 15 stories. There will be a battery operated toy-train installed at the gate to ferry children to their homes - that`s another `first`. It will have a mini water park beside a community hall, multi-gym, swimming pools, a children’s park and intercom facilities between flats.

Another pioneer feature in the region will be a water-treatment plant and rainwater harvesting system. Each of the 800 families in the 11 residential towers will be provided with 20 liters of drinking water from the plant everyday. Targeted at the upwardly-mobile middle class and the upper class, the price tags will not be less than Rs 20 lakhs per flat.
