Darjeeling, 1st Feb.:- State Govt. has
not yet fixed a date for the election to Darjeeling Gorkha
Autonomous Hill Council (DGAHC).
State Govt. has told the Planning Commission
that DGAHC chairman Subhas Ghisingh has demanded 50 crore.
Subhas Gisingh also told here today in a press conference
that before the tripartite meeting election would not be held.
Chief Minister of the state Mr. Buddhadev Bhattacherjee has
told that the election date for the hill has not yet settled.
The home secretary Amit Kiran Dev said that they would tell
the centre to consider the demand of Subhas Ghisingh of Rs.
50 crore. Chief Minister has announced that the State would
announce the date for election after the tripartite meeting
on 28th January. The election should be held before 26th March
because the term of the present Council would be end on 26th
March. District authorities have stopped their preparation
for the election which was announced on 18th February because
the state has postponed this date of election and the new
date has not yet decided.
