West Bengal Forest Development Corporation
(WBFDC) has joined hands with private players to build cottage
in Ryshop, an upcoming destination near Kalimpong to promote
properties to accommodate more visitors. It also helps this
region to promote eco-tourism. Before the villagers who had
this concept of village tourism provided accommodation to
the tourists in their homes. WBFDC general manager R.R.P.
Singh said, “We have invited tenders from the privates
who will be providing us the land there.” Ryshop is
one of the dozen destinations that the corporation has chosen
to serve as eco-tourism spots. The General Manager said that
we are looking for those area most of which are unknown in
the tourism circuit.
The local people need to be taken into
confidence because they are the once who can help to fulfill
this projects. The projects in Ryshop and Paren (to be taken
up soon) are expected to be completed before the start of
the Puja season this year. The cottage will be ethnic and
it will also contain the heritage of this region. The activities
related to forest and adventure with the help of the local
communities will also be introduced. The corporation has the
idea to increase the capacities of existing cottage in Lava,
Loleygaon, Jaldhaka, and Murti. The list contains a dozen
of new destination to build cottage including Paren, Gojaldoba,
Lataguri, Raimatang and Jayanti. Singh said, “We have
also acquired the dormitory of Buxa Tiger Reserve at Rajabhatkhawa
to introduce eco-tourism there.”
