Flowers to woo visitors Dt. - 11/02/05

Alipurduar: To add colour to the Dooars as a tourist destination the administration has decided to declare the town of Alipurduar a `town of flower`. `Like Chandigarh which is known as the city of roses and Jaipur is known as the pink city, our area has so many flowers and we decided to call this area the town of flowers,` said Soumitra Mohan, Alipurduar Sub divisional officer.

All the shops on the main road should keep at least two flower pots and the households must be decorated with different type of flowering plants. It will appeal to tourists. The Horticultural Society of Alipurduar has decided to distribute flower plants among the shops and the residents. In this project the social forestry division has extended their hands. It will help this region to become a popular tourist spot.
