Available star luxury - jalpaiguri gears up to woo light end tourist
To promote tourism in the region the divisional headquarters of
north Bengal has taken one more step. Dinesh Dakua, Tourism Minister
has inaugurated the first `star-rated` hotel here in Jalpaiguri this afternoon. The two-star
De l` Pretom was given the rating by the ministry of tourism. Gautam
Das, the chairman and director of Jalpaiguri Hoteliers and Trading
Private Limited said that Jalpaiguri circuit so far lagged behind
in providing foreign tourists and domestic visitors, from the high-end segment,
a proper place to stay. He also added that it will help us to promote
this district on the tourism map and it also will help to generate
employments. In this hotel 84 people has been appointed and this
hotel is already a member of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant
Association of India. People will be able to book this hotel right
now through online. This facility is available now for 24 towns
and 4 cities of the country. Siliguri is a prime spot for tourism
because of the availability of hotels for all categories of visitors.
But with the inauguration of this hotel we will be able to compete
with our satellite twin. The tariff for the rooms range from a minimum
of Rs 450 to Rs 1,750. The hotel boasts a family restaurant, bar-cum-restaurant,
conference hall, roof-top restaurant and air-conditioned and non-AC
rooms. These facilities are pre-requisites for a hotel to get a
star status.
Not only the person who are attached with tourism but also the tea
planters has appreciated this. This hotel will be able to solve
the problem of those who come here for several purposes and did
not get any suitable hotel. The hotel will also help the visitors
who want to visit this region. `We are there to help them and provide
necessary service. The best part is we will be able to help visitors
on travel not only in Jalpaiguri but to other parts of the country
too as we are attached to a federation,` Soujanya Sanyal, the general
manager of the hotel said.
