star luxury - jalpaiguri gears up to woo light end tourist
To promote tourism in the region the divisional
headquarters of north Bengal has taken one more step. Dinesh
Dakua, Tourism Minister has inaugurated the first `star-rated`
hotel here in Jalpaiguri this afternoon. The two-star De l`
Pretom was given the rating by the ministry of tourism. Gautam
Das, the chairman and director of Jalpaiguri Hoteliers and
Trading Private Limited said that Jalpaiguri circuit so far
lagged behind in providing foreign tourists and domestic visitors,
from the high-end segment, a proper place to stay. He also
added that it will help us to promote this district on the
tourism map and it also will help to generate employments.
In this hotel 84 people has been appointed and this hotel
is already a member of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant
Association of India. People will be able to book this hotel
right now through online. This facility is available now for
24 towns and 4 cities of the country. Siliguri is a prime
spot for tourism because of the availability of hotels for
all categories of visitors. But with the inauguration of this
hotel we will be able to compete with our satellite twin.
The tariff for the rooms range from a minimum of Rs 450 to
Rs 1,750. The hotel boasts a family restaurant, bar-cum-restaurant,
conference hall, roof-top restaurant and air-conditioned and
non-AC rooms. These facilities are pre-requisites for a hotel
to get a star status.
Not only the person who are attached with
tourism but also the tea planters has appreciated this. This
hotel will be able to solve the problem of those who come
here for several purposes and did not get any suitable hotel.
The hotel will also help the visitors who want to visit this
