New green getaway for tourists

A new tourist destination is coming up near the Kalimpong Sikkim boarder. The place known as Mangsang is located near Rongpo. The place can become the next hotspot for tourists looking for a tour beyond the well trodden tourist spots of the region.

Mangsang has gained popularity because of its unique location on top of a hill overlooking the meandering river Tista and the Kunchenjungha snow range. The place is also famous for cinchona plantation. Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council has been considering setting up a resort here. A proposal has already been send to the central government for their approval. The project to be set up with a total cost of Rs. 4 core, envisages putting up a two-storeyed building and six cottages on a five acre plot of the Sinchona directorates bungalow. There will be a restaurant, a recreation hall and a conference hall.
