Kalimpong gets early visitors

Kalimpong is busy with tourist arrivals even before the onset of the full tourist season. The major hotels are having large number of booking at a time which is not considered high season.

The reason attributed for this is the political crisis in Nepal and the tsunami fear in the sea. The president of the hotel and restaurant association said that this upsurge will encourages the hotel and restaurant owners of Kalimpong and the adjacent area. Though the tourist season starts from May and continues to June, all the renowned hotels have been already book by the tourists and most of them are from abroad. `It is good to see that the tourists are coming in a large number from different parts of the country and out of country`, said Mr. Siddhant Sood of the Sood’s Garden Retreat.

There is also an increasing trend of tourists visiting new destinations. Kalimpong has a lot of new potential destinations which is one of the reasons why the tourists gather here every year to enjoy their holydays far from the madding crowd.
