Hill state bus plan - 17/03/05

The passengers of Nepal and Bhutan will now be able to visit Sikkim through bus service within a vary short time. The Sikkim Nationalized Transport has decided to introduce two new buses to cater to passenger heading for Nepal and Bhutan. The necessary step has been taken and the proposal been sent to the transport department and West Bengal State Transport Corporation.

Among the two buses one will run from Gangtok to Panitanki, the Nepal border and the other bus will run from Gangtok to Jaigaon, Bhutan border. To buy two new buses for border services is on the anvil and the fund has been set aside. The utility of transport has a long history. The transport of border exited even during the Chogyal regime when Sikkim was a kingdom. The transport gives a new way to Sikkim and Sikkim will receive a large number of tourists from Nepal and Bhutan due to this.
