Camp craft to build skills

A six day adventure trekking and camping course will be starting from March 22nd in Kalimpong. The campers and trekkers will explore the wilderness of Kalimpong forest division during their course. Himalayan Nature and Adventure Foundation organize this course. This year they will take their participants through a lesser know wild route between 3000 and 6500ft. in the Dalim-Chukham, Panchpokhri-Tsumichen-Ambiok forest, said foundation secretary Asok Nandi.

He also said that the main intension of the course is to develop the self confidence and social instant. It will generate an understanding of the ecology and environment. The participants join the camp are boys and girls above 15 year. They all hail from Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Behrampore, Malda, Raiganj, Calcutta and Siliguri. Experts in various fields of camping will train them. In the camp the young campers will get to know the nuances of map reading, nature study on plants and wildlife, bird watching, tent life, camp fires and basic survival strategies.
