Investors meet in April - 21/03/05

A two days invests meet will be held in Siliguri from 16th April. SJDA in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industries and West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation will organize the meeting. The meeting will be held on the line of the Destination North Bengal which was organized here in February 2003 and the meeting was attended by as many as 140 delegates.

At a news conference The Urban Development Minister of the State Mr. Ashok Bhattacharjee said, “Our first initiative was successful and we received a large number of investors who were eager to invest in North Bengal. Now we look forward.” This type of meeting would give Siliguri more strategic importance in the year to come. North Bengal will have a bright prospect after the changes like reopening Nathula, completion of the East-West Corridor and operation of international flights from Bagdogra airport, which is expected to happen sooner or later. Mr. Ashok Bhattacharjee also said that this is the time for us to create interest among the investors.

Chief Minister Mr. Buddhadev Bhattacharjee will inaugurate the meeting and it is expected to be attended by a large number of the investors and industrial houses not only from Bengal but from foreign delegates also.
