Flights now comes cheaper than train tickets.
A Passengers can fly to Delhi from Bagdogra at Rs. 500, much
cheaper than the train fare in Rajdhani express for the same
route. Air Deccan will operates its flight from Bagdogra after
successful stints at important cities in the country like
Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Jaipur and
Guwahati.
The service can be started from he second
week of April this year. Mr. R Promod Talking to The Statesman
in Siliguri, the deputy head (Airport Services), Air Deccan
said, `The flights of Delhi-Bagdogra will run seven days a
week. The rout it takes on four days will be Guwahati-Bagdogra-Delhi
and the rest three days it will take the route of Bagdogra-Guwahati-Delhi.
The plane has 180 seats and 90 seats are for the North-Bengal
passengers. The plane would touch Bagdogra everyday. There
are only a few seats available on this flight for Rs. 500/-
each if these seats are booked six months in advance. The
flight rates would differ according to time of booking. Advance
booking rate would vary between Rs. 500 to Rs. 2,500 per head
for the flight between Bagdogra to Delhi and vice versa. The
price would be 50 to 60 percent lower then the other flights.
“The tickets booking for the flights of Air Deccan will
be started with in a week,` said Mr. P Barthakur, director
of Alfa Aero Services Pvt. Ltd., the authorized agency of
Air Deccan for ground activities. `The passengers can book
the tickets through the internet besides the counter at Bagdogra
or through any travel agents,` said Ms Rasika S Gupta of Alfa
Aero. `To book the tickets by Internet the passengers need
only a PC with internet connection and the plastic money.
Log on to www.aireccan.net, and book the ticket and get the
printout which will be treated as the ticket,` she said. The
Air Deccan deputy-head, airport services, informed about several
other unique services it is offering, which include regional
language flight announcement, snacks on sale, LCD screen TV
inside the plane, air phone etc. He said that within a month
or so, the Bagdogra Airport would be connected with the Dum
Dum airport. Ms. Gupta also said that Air Deccan services
would be made available by the next month at Bhubaneswar,
Agartala, Aizwal and Silchar all connecting to Kolkata. The
ATR services would be offered in the North-Eastern sector.
The countdown to a flight at dream rate has begun and if you
