Oct 31: The Northeast Frontier Railway has decided to resume
the DHR toy-train holiday specials on weekends without the
catering service.
The holiday specials had been stopped after
tourists complained about the food. But an order from the
headquarters of NFR at Maligaon, Guwahati, directed to resume
the service.
The special service runs between Siliguri
and Gayabari, which is 35 km from Siliguri. The trip runs
on Saturday and Sunday from Siliguri at 8 am and reaches Gayabari
by noon – it returns after a one-hour halt in Gayabari.
The entire trip has been priced at Rs 125 per head for all
persons above five years. It can accommodate 50 passengers.
According to railway officials, second class
trains will also be available as chartered trains. Earlier,
DHR chartered trains were available with only two first class
coaches at Rs 20,000; now second class chartered trains will
be available at Rs 10,000.
