Travel news of North East India

Sun god shining on Siliguri

Siliguri, Oct. 11: Looking at the bad weather, residents in Siliguri had feared that that it would play spoilsport in the Pujas. But the weather gods were smiling at Siliguri this time.

A local Puja committee member said that though it was not easy to predict the weather their worst fears are over.

The Regional Meteorological Centre in Kolkata officially declared that the monsoon has spared North Bengal with perfect timing, and the prevailing dry weather conditions is likely to continue.

The sky was so crystal clear that even the magnificent Kanchenjunga was clearly visible from the town.

However, not everybody is smiling since Siliguri and the adjoining areas have received scant rainfall – only 60 percent of the average rainfall during the monsoons this year. The farmers are likely to be affected adversely due to low rainfall.
