Siliguri,
Sep 26: In the coming Puja season, a new safari route through
the dense forests of the Sukna inside the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary
will be opened for tourists.
The North-Bengal Guide Association, jointly with the State Tourism
Department, has decided to take a group of 20 physically challenged
children on tour of the new route as part of the World Tourism Day`s
celebrations.
The trail will start at Sukna and end 5 km away at Golaghat, providing
a great opportunity to visitors interested in nature and wildlife.
The trek is aimed at promoting safari among tourists from cities
to hang out during the weekends. A single-day tour package including
a visit to a tea garden for first-hand experience of the tea making
process will also be provided.
It seems that the State Tourism Department is all set up to market
the Sukna forest as a popular weekend getaway for tourists -
locals, and visitors from afar as well.
