Jalpaiguri,
Sept. 28: Now the big cats are the latest attraction in Khairbari,
Jalpaiguri, after the leopards.
It already boasts of a leopard rescue centre where visitors can
ride inside battery-driven cars and watch the animals roaming freely.
This time, a similar enclosure is being built for the 11 Royal Bengal
Tigers rescued from circus companies in Kolkata.
The centre, which will probably be named as Royal Bengal Tiger
Rehabilitation and Research Centre, will be completed within two
months. The Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), North Bengal,
said the Zoo Authority of India was funding the project.
The three tigers named Ram, Sita, Lakshmi and the others eight,
have been kept in cages near the Holong bungalow area in Jaldapara
Wildlife Sanctuary. Vaccination against viral diseases has already
been administered to the tigers. |
