Gangtok, Feb.
3: The Sikkim State Government soon plans to start a night safari
package at Himalayan Zoological Park at Bulbulay near Gangtok. They
also want to ensure that the roads across the state are kept greener
to protect its ecological and aesthetic properties.
At today’s meeting, at the official residence of the chief
minister, Pawan Kumar Chamling, there were also plans to introduce
schemes to promote floriculture based on technical training and
marketing facilities.
The state forest department was ordered to draw out a blue print
to start the night safari at the Himalayan Zoological Park and
to upgrade the bird sanctuary at Rabdentse located in West Sikkim.
To protect the scenic beauty of the state the government has
decided to take strict action against the dumping of soil near
government owned roads and encroachment on government property.
Also, parking of vehicles on highways and putting commercial hoarding
in trees will be totally prohibited.
All the departments in the state have agreed to cooperate with
resources and man power to plant new tress along major roads in
the state. It seems like the state government is all geared to
take Sikkim towards a greener future.
