Alipurduar, Jan.
29, 2006: The West Bengal Forest Development Corporation opened
the Buxa Jungle Lodge in the Buxa Tiger Reserve, which was inaugurated
by the forest minister of state, Jogesh Burman., today.
This will enable visitors to stay in the jungle lodge and take
their own time in making a tour of the reserve instead of completing
it within a day. Since the forest departments bungalows are booked
throughout the year by officials, this new accommodation will meet
the inflow of tourists in the jungle. Now tourists can also book
their rooms through the internet with a click of a mouse.
The forest minister said that this new lodge will
address the problems of tourists who complain the lack of well furnished
rooms and lodges. An abandoned building from the colonial times
has been refurbished at the cost of Rs 14 lakh to prepare the new
accommodation.
The minister also plans to build bungalows at Jainti
and Bhutanghat, and develop infrastructure for tourism activities
in the area.
