Travel news of North East India

Siliguri flyover

If everything goes according to plan, the town would get its much-needed and much-awaited flyover by the end of May.
The matter was settled in a meeting between the Siliguri mayor Bikash Ghosh, senior divisional engineer, North East Frontier Railway Mr GP Singh and other officials today.
According to the mayor, no date has yet been fixed for the flyover’s inauguration but the facility is likely to be inaugurated by the end of next month. The flyover is being built jointly by the Railways and the West Bengal government. The Railways, which have completed most of the construction under its responsibility is positive that it would complete the rest part within the second week of May.
Expressing satisfaction with the work, the senior divisional manager said that seven units out of the nine under its responsibility have been completed. “The rest should be over by the given time,” Mr Singh added.
The development is likely to end the blame game the Railways and the government agencies played in the past holding each other responsible for overshooting the expected delivery time
