Compass, a leading theatre unit of Cooch
Behar, will celebrate its 15th anniversary by organising a
theatrical festival. Starting from 12 April, the festival
will continue till 16 April at Rabindra Bhavan here.
The secretary of Compass, Dr Nilay Ray, claimed that the theatre
festival would be of international standard. On the second
day of the festival, a symposium will be held on "the
role of group-theatre and theatre-workers in this age of globalisation"
at Rabindra Bhavan.
During the five-day theatre festival, Compass will stage two
productions directed by Mr Debabrata Acharya ~ Bite and Khelna
Bhangar Shabdo. On the concluding day the Centre for Asian
Theatre, Bangladesh, will present Bheluya Sundari.
The other participant troupes are ~ Rangapith, Santipur (Bayen),
Seagull, Assam (Yatra), Egra Kristichakra, Purba Medinipur
(Gangparh) and Spandan, Kolkata (Operation Flush and 16 millimetre).
On the other hand, Sammilito Natyakormi Mancha, Cooch Behar,
will observe the National Street Play Day through a cultural
programme at Rabindra Bhavan on Thursday.
