Forest dwellers of the Moraghat range
and Dalgaon range in Jalpaiguri district would now have an
alternative source of economy through pisciculture, courtesy
the forest department.
The forest department today distributed 1,000 fingerlings
of the Indian major carp family among the forest villagers
for rearing in the local waterbodies. In addition to that,
fish food, ingredients to ensure growth of the fish, non-pollutants,
propagation tools and different types of fishing nets were
distributed. The distribution was done under the Forest Village
Development Scheme, which was instituted in 2005.
