Christmas fever grips Gangtok

Christmas fever has gripped the city Gangtok with various type of celebration from today.
However, people from different parts of the state are rushing in the state capital to purchase new clothes and Christmas cakes. The bakeries in the capital town are busy baking cakes for Christmas. “We have got more than 100 booking orders for Christmas cake in the past one week so we are busy focusing only on the cake not other items,” said Mr. Rajesh Agarwal a bakery owner of Gangtok. “We have employed few other helpers for at least the Christmas and New Year,” he added.
On the one side fathers and sisters from missionary schools and cathedrals are busy preparing for Christmas, which falls on Tuesday. “We are busy decorating our church and every evening we are playing carols specially only in rural areas,” said Ms. Treza Rai, a sister from a local cathedral. “This year our church completes 25 years so on this occasion we are distributing some clothes to the orphans and poor children this Christmas” she added.
