Tourism tie-up

The Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) signed a MOU with the Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL & FS) on Friday, for the development of tourism infrastructure in Sikkim.
Mr. R.K Mathur, an advisor for IL & FS has signed a MOU with Mr. L.B Chettri, a chief executive officer from STDC. The STDC and the IL & FS would select the areas for the development of tourism infrastructure in the state under the public-private partnership format.
The initial target areas for the development are the ropeway connecting places of tourist importance, the development of air connectivity in the Himalayan state, high end hotel projects, high end tourist resorts and medium range hotels, an official informed. The Project development committee constituting equal number of members from the STDC and the IL & FS will select the projects, based on feasibility reports.
A corpus will be created with contribution from both the STDC and the IL & FS, by earmarking the North East tourism projects development fund to be managed by the North East Tourism Development Company Private. Ltd.
