Noted scholars from North-eastern states
and other parts of the country will assemble here to deliberate
on one of the key issues of North-east ~ environment and sustainable
development.
Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla,
will be hosting a three-day national seminar on "the
future of North-East: issues on environment and sustainable
development" at Gangtok.
The seminar will begin on 5 March. The
state government is the co-host of the seminar.
Eminent scholars from India, North-east and Sikkim have given
their consent to attend the seminar. They would present their
papers during the seminar, the organisers, said.
Forest minister Mr SB Subedi and human resource development
minister Mr GM Gurung will be the chief guest and guest of
honour, respectively, for the inaugural session on March 5,
the organisers, said.
The organisers are leaving no stone unturned to make the event
a success. The state government has also come forward with
all possible help.
