Travel news of North East India

Tourism fair begins

Other than the Higher Secondary examinations, most other major tests are over and now, it is time to chill-out.
To help potential trotters in this direction, Summer Tourism Fair, the first-of-its-kind, was inaugurated at the Kanchanjungha Stadium here yesterday.
In collaboration with the Siliguri Tourism Fair Organising Committee, a Kolkata based firm is organising the three-day long fair at the stadium premises. Forty travel operators from different parts of the country are participating in the fair, which is also being attended by the Union tourism department, tourism department of Rajasthan and the North Bengal State Transport Corporation. According to the organisers, tourism is emerging as a prolific money-earning sector in the country. “The fair is being organised to project and promote north Bengal as a popular destination,” the official added.
A cultural programme was organised to mark the inauguration yesterday.
