Micro-
light aircraft makes emergency landing, pilots safe
Following a technical snag, a micro-light
aircraft of the Indian Air Force made an emergency landing
on the Buxa riverbed at Hamiltanganj in the Dooars today.
The incident took place at about 11:45 am, barely ten minutes
after the aircraft took off from the Hashimara airbase.
According to the Kalchini police, both the pilot Captain S
Mukherjee and his assistant Wing Commander Bikash Roy sustained
mild injuries in the incident and were released from the Hashimara
Air Force Hospital.
The Air Force authorities, with the help of fire brigade personnel,
later recovered the aircraft from the Buxa riverbed and took
it to the Hashimara airbase.
The micro-light aircraft ~ normally used to make a reconnaissance
of the surrounding air space before a MiG jet takes off, was
damaged slightly.
