The state government has acquired the
homestead of social reformer, Roysaheb Thakur Panchanan Barma
at Khalisamari, Mathabhanga in Cooch Behar district.
Declaring the take over, the state backward classes welfare
minister Mr Jogesh Barman also laid the foundation of a museum
and a research centre at the spot on Thursday.
The minister said that work to set up the museum would begin
this year and his department would extend financial assistance.
Assistance from the Union cultural affairs department would
also be sought to complete the museum and the research centre.
