Day
1: NJP/ Bagdogra to Mirik Via Sukna-Garidhura.
Our representative cordially receives you on arrival (NJP
R St. / Bagdogra IXB) and helps you board the awaiting car.
You proceed to Mirik
– a small serene tourist retreat in the Himalayas nestled
among the verdant forests of pine and Japanese cedar. The
beautiful drive passes along the rolling hill slopes covered
with lush green tea gardens and gives a magnificent vista
of the lower Himalayan landscape. The small town Mirik is
famous for its beautiful lake surrounded by forested hills,
orange orchards and cardamom plantations.
We assist you to check in at hotel. Get
refreshed and have free leisure evening. We recommend a relaxed
evening and take a short silent walk through the misty pine
forests and listen to the nature that surrounds you. Overnight

Day
2 : Mirik sight seeing and Lepcha Jagat transfer Via Sukhia
Today after breakfast you visit the famous Samendu
Lake. Surrounded by forested hills on all sides with the back
drop of Mt Kanchenjunga the lake is an attractive recreation
center for tourists. Boating in the lake is a nice romantic
experience for the honeymooners. You can also enjoy the horse
ride or feed the fish in the lake. Walk to the Kawlay dara
view point to get a sweeping view of the plains and snow ranges.
The place also offers a fascinating view of sun set and sun
rise. Also visit Tamang Buddhist monastery and Tibetan Buddhist
Monastery, two very popular monasteries in Mirik. Return to
hotel, pack up and leave for Lepchajagat.
The journey runs along the ridge bordering
the neighboring country Nepal and passes through some of the
most beautifully located tea gardens in the rolling hill slopes
and misty pine forests. You may take a visit to Pashupati
Market in Nepal on the way.
Lepchajagat is a small Lepcha village close
to Ghoom. The only tourist accommodation at Lepchajagat is
a Forest Department bungalow. The bungalow is located in a
secluded area with excellent views of Darjeeling town and
Kanchenjunga mountain range from the bungalow rooms. Get refreshed
and have free leisure evening. Overnight : Leptcha Jagat.
Day
3 : Chirping birds rather than an alarm clock will wake
you up today. Open your eyes to watch the first glimpse of
the massive Kanchenjunga massif. Take your breakfast after
returning from a relaxed stroll around the bungalow in the
empty roads. Holding your loves hand on a misty day as you
walk along the pine ridge, if you find bliss here, remember
we told you first.
Of course there is more in store for you
during the day.......... if you want to move out of your bungalow
room. Take a short visit to Jorepokhri
Salamander Project at Sukhia Pokhri. Salamander is one of
the rarest Himalayan reptiles in the region. Have a rare glimpse
of the animal on its natural habitat. Back to the forest bungalow.
After lunch during the afternoon, visit Darjeeling town. You
can take a walk to Darjeeling Mall, visit local market and
enjoy the `Queen of Hills`. Return to your bungalow in the
evening. Overnight Halt: Leptcha Jagat.
Day
4: Early morning visit to Tiger Hill at 8442ft above sea
level to experience the unforgettable sight of Sunrise over
the Kanchenjungha. Visit Ghoom Monastery – one of the
oldest Monasteries in Darjeeling - and also Batasia Loop –
the picturesque garden and War Memorial with the backdrop
of snow ranges. Car service from 4.00AM to 7.30AM. Return
to Lepcha Jagat for breakfast.
After breakfast start for Kalimpong. The
way to Kalimpong via Peshok road offers beautiful view of
the Tista river, Sikkim and Bengal hills. At Malli, about
11 kms before Kalimpong, we may arrange rafting for just the
two of you, if you are inclined towards adventure. This is
a half an hour ride that is safe for anyone with reasonably
fit physic. Another half an hours journey from Malli will
take you to Kalimpong. Check into the prebooked hotel. Spend
a free evening at leisure. Overnight at Kalimpong.
Day
5: You will spend the day moving around Kalimpong town
today. Kalimpong
- a little town and sub divisional head quarter in the lower
Himalayas, is famous for its mild climate, scenic landscape
doted with old colonial buildings, magnificent view of Kunchenjungha
and rare orchids. Visit the famous Delo View point at 5500ft
(1650M), the highest point of Kalimpong town having a very
picturesque view of the high snow mountains and the Tista
river valley. On the way back we take you to the historical
Dr. Graham's Homes, the house of Dr. J A Graham, one of the
earliest Scottish Missionaries, who established an orphanage
and a farm house in 1900. The Chapel at the house is a glorious
example of old European Architecture. Back to Hotel and after
a short tea break walk down to the Kalimpong Bazaar –
popular place for shopping traditional handicraft items like
hand woven woolen garments, wooden masks, Tibetan paintings
and many other attractive souvenirs.
In the afternoon you may visit the Zang
Dhok Palri Phodang Monastery, the largest and most beautiful
Monastery in Kalimpong established in 1976 by His Holiness
Dalai Lama. The monastery belongs to the Yellow Hat Sect of
Buddhism. Also visit Durpin Dara View Point close to the monastery.
Situated at a height of 4500ft (1380M) the place commands
a beautiful panoramic view of Kunchenjungha peak and other
prominent peaks of Himalayas along with the River valleys
flowing below through hills and forests. Now we take you to
Rishi Bankim Chandra Park, a small park with full of flowers
and birds. A perfect place for relaxing. Also visit Orchid
Nurseries in the down town to have glimpse and purchase of
rare orchids. Overnight at Kalimpong
Day
6: Today you Drive to Loleygaon.
On the way visit Lava, a small misty village on a hill top
overviewing the Dooars plains. Visit to Lava Monastery
and Nature Interpretation Center. View the magnum of Kanchenjunga,
coniferous hill slopes, deep gorges and valleys.
Drive on to Loleygaon
(24Kms from Lava). Check in the Hotel or Forest Rest House.
Spend a leisurely evening. Overnight Halt: Loleygaon.
Day 7: Early morning drive
to Jhandidara (3Kms) for Sunrise. Situated at the dense forest
covered hilltop, Jhandidara offers a panoramic view of the
region and is one of the best places to view sunrise over
the snow ridges. Return back to the hotel for breakfast.
Loleygaon is a small village which had only
25/30 houses even a decade back. With the advent of tourism,
the population has increased. But the village still offers
some of the charms of a tranquil mystic village of the hill.
You spend the day at placid pace. You may take a short walk
to visit the heritage forests. The forest is full of huge
mossy Oaks and Cypress. There is a tree walk on offer at the
forest. You may also go for a small hike to the nearby villages
like Pemling to watch local village culture. Overnight Halt:
Loleygaon.
Day 8: Pack up and back
to Siliguri (105
Kms) via Gorubathan - a memorable journey through the lash
green tea gardens and forests. Lunch on the way. Farewell
at NJP station. Tour ends. |
