The city of Siliguri in the North Eastern part of the country is located at a strategic point ethnically, geographically and historically. It is on the verge of hosting the first Carnival of Siliguri. The scale that a carnival will not only impact the lives of the about few lakh people of this cosmopolitan city. It is being held for the first time in 2014 and with a vision that in years to come it will be one of the mega event of the region. Adjacent seven states in the north eastern region, the adjoining state of Bihar and the neighborhood nations like Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal will culturally, socially and economically be a part in future. The opening of Manssaroval Yatra will be adding the Carnival a new dimension. This along with the onset of the festive session just before the arrival of Christmas will certainly be an event to participate. Theme like Yesterday, today and tomorrow" and the continual collective effort to "Keep Siliguri clean and green" will be part of the festival. The motto of this endeavor is to promote various aspects of heritage, composite culture,literary values,sports, tourism, scientific excellence of this multi ethnic, multicultural and multilingual city and its vibrant people.

North Bengal University Museum, Salugara Monastery, Fulbari, Surya Sen Park, ISKCON Temple, Sevoke, North bengal Science Center, Bangdubi, Forest, Madhuban Park, Gajoldoba are some of the places of interest at around Siliguri. 

Few Eateries worth visiting are City Dhaba near Bagdogra, Chalachal (Bengali Cuisne) near Shivmandir, Cindrella (Veg) near Salugara, Bhaojohari Manna (Bengali Cusine) near Venus More, Barun Hotel (Bengali Cuisine), Gautam Dhaba in Sevoke, Sartaj in Hill Cart Road are quite popular eateries. Few Bar are also reputed like Sartaj, Darbar, Parivar in Hill Cart Road, High Spirit in City center are worth visiting.
