Tashichho Dzong, also known as the "Fortress of the Glorious Religion," is a majestic monastery and fortress in Thimphu. Serving as the seat of Bhutan's government since 1952, it houses the throne room, offices of the king, and various government ministries. The Dzong's striking white-washed walls and golden-tipped roofs are surrounded by beautiful gardens. It is also the summer residence of Je Khenpo, the Chief Abbot of Bhutan.

The BBS Tower, or Sangaygang, is a popular viewpoint in Thimphu, offering panoramic views of the city and the surrounding Himalayan landscape. The Motithang Takin Preserve in Thimphu is a unique wildlife sanctuary dedicated to the takin, Bhutan's national animal.
