Shillong Tawang Kaziranga Tour Plan

A well paced experiential tour plan through Shillong, Cherrapunjee, Kaziranga and Tawang. Experience Meghalaya waterfalls, Kaziranga wildlife safari and the high Himalayan landscapes of Arunachal Pradesh.

  • Day 01 Arrival in Assam followed by a scenic drive to the hill capital of Meghalaya.

    On arrival at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, you are received and assisted with the transfer to Shillong. The drive of about 100 km takes around three hours and gradually climbs into the Khasi Hills.Shillong, located at an altitude of about 6825 ft, is known for its cool climate, colonial era charm and rolling hill landscapes. On arrival check in at the hotel and take time to settle in after the journey.The evening is free to explore nearby markets or relax at the hotel while experiencing the calm atmosphere of the hill town. Overnight stay in Shillong.

  • Day 02 Explore waterfalls, viewpoints and limestone caves of Cherrapunjee.

    After breakfast begin the drive to Cherrapunjee, located around 60 km from Shillong. This region, also known as Sohra, is famous for its dramatic cliffs, deep valleys and seasonal waterfalls.En route stop at Mawkdok Viewpoint which offers sweeping views of the Khasi Hills and deep valleys below. Continue towards Cherrapunjee and visit the famous Nohkalikai Falls, one of the tallest plunge waterfalls in India.Further sightseeing includes Seven Sisters Falls and Thangkharang Park which offers views of the plains of Bangladesh on clear days. Later explore Mawsmai Cave, one of the well known limestone caves in Meghalaya with natural rock formations and narrow passages.In the afternoon return to Shillong. On the way visit Elephant Falls, a popular multi tiered waterfall located near the city. Continue to Shillong Peak which provides a wide view of the city and surrounding hills. Return to the hotel in the evening. Overnight stay in Shillong.

  • Day 03 Local sightseeing in Shillong followed by a drive to Kaziranga.

    After breakfast proceed for a half day Shillong city tour between approximately 830 AM and 100 PM. Visit Don Bosco Museum, a well known cultural museum presenting the traditions and lifestyles of North East India.Continue to Ward’s Lake where you may enjoy a short boating experience in the landscaped surroundings. The tour also includes the Botanical Garden and Lady Hydari Park which display a variety of regional plants and flowers.After the city tour begin the drive towards Kaziranga National Park in Assam, covering around 270 km in about seven hours. On arrival check in at the hotel or wildlife resort near the park.The evening is free to relax after the long drive and prepare for the next day wildlife experience. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.

  • Day 04 Wildlife safari experience followed by drive to the Arunachal border.

    Early morning proceed for an elephant safari in the Western Range of Kaziranga National Park subject to availability. The park is globally recognised for the conservation of the endangered One Horned Rhinoceros. It is also home to large populations of Wild Water Buffalo, Asian Elephants and Royal Bengal Tigers.Return to the hotel for breakfast and check out. Before leaving Kaziranga explore parts of the Central Range during a short sightseeing drive. The park is also an important birding destination with nearly 500 recorded species including Crested Serpent Eagle, Pallas Fishing Eagle, Bar Headed Goose and Bengal Florican.Later begin the drive to Bhalukpong located on the Assam Arunachal Pradesh border. On arrival check in at the hotel. Overnight stay in Bhalukpong.

  • Day 05 Mountain drive into Arunachal Pradesh with orchid research centre visit.

    After an early breakfast check out and proceed towards Dirang, a scenic valley town in Arunachal Pradesh located at about 4910 ft.En route visit Tipi Orchidarium situated on the banks of the Bharali River. The centre houses more than 7500 orchids and showcases several rare species including varieties of Dendrobium and Lady’s Slipper orchids. Arunachal Pradesh has one of the richest orchid diversities in India.Continue the drive through forested valleys and winding mountain roads before reaching Dirang. After arrival check in at the hotel and spend the evening at leisure enjoying the peaceful setting of the valley town. Overnight stay in Dirang.

  • Day 06 High altitude Himalayan drive crossing the famous Sela Pass.

    After breakfast check out and drive towards Tawang located at around 10000 ft in the Eastern Himalayas.During the journey visit the Jaswant Garh War Memorial dedicated to the soldiers who fought in the 1962 Indo China conflict. Continue the ascent towards Sela Pass located at an altitude of about 13494 ft. The pass is known for its high altitude lakes and changing mountain landscapes. During winter the region often receives snowfall.After crossing the pass continue the drive to Tawang. On arrival check in at the hotel and relax after the long mountain journey. The evening is free for rest or a short walk around the town. Overnight stay in Tawang.

  • Day 07 Explore the monastery town of Tawang and its famous mountain lake.

    After breakfast begin the full day sightseeing tour of Tawang. Visit Tawang Monastery, one of the largest Buddhist monasteries in India and an important religious centre of the region. The monastery overlooks the town and offers views of the surrounding valleys.Later drive to Sungester Lake located at about 14500 ft. The lake was formed after a major earthquake in 1950 and is surrounded by rugged mountain landscapes. It is also popularly known as Madhuri Lake after the filming of the movie Koyla here.Travellers may also opt for an excursion to Bumla Pass located around 45 km from Tawang at an altitude of about 15000 ft. The pass lies on the Indo China border and is historically significant as the route through which the Dalai Lama entered India while escaping Tibet. This excursion can be arranged locally at an additional cost and subject to permits.Return to the hotel in the evening. Overnight stay in Tawang.

  • Day 08 Mountain descent with monastery visits in Bomdila.

    After an early breakfast check out and drive towards Bomdila situated at around 7274 ft. The route again passes through scenic Himalayan landscapes and mountain valleys.After arrival check in at the hotel and proceed for local sightseeing. Visit Gontse Rabgyaling Monastery also known as Upper Gonpa followed by Thub Chog Gatsel Ling Monastery or Lower Gonpa.Later visit Bomdila View Point which offers wide panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan ranges and valleys. Return to the hotel in the evening. Overnight stay in Bomdila.

  • Day 09 Return journey from Arunachal hills to the Assam plains.

    After breakfast check out and begin the drive towards Guwahati covering around 335 km in approximately ten hours. The journey gradually descends from the mountains of Arunachal Pradesh into the plains of Assam.On arrival in Guwahati check in at the hotel. The evening is free for rest or a short walk around nearby markets. Overnight stay in Guwahati.

  • Day 10 Temple visit followed by transfer for onward journey.

    After early breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to visit the revered Kamakhya Temple located on Nilachal Hill. The temple is one of the most important Shakti Peeths in India and holds deep religious significance.Following the temple visit transfer to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey. The tour concludes with travel experiences across Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, covering waterfalls, monasteries and wildlife landscapes of North East India.

  • Cost for Airfare, Train fare.

  • 5% GST on the total billing. 

 

Cancellation Policy

  • All cancellations must be communicated in writing (via email or authorised messaging platform) and will be effective only from the date and time of receipt by the tour operator.

  • Cancellation charges shall be calculated on the total package cost, irrespective of the amount paid at the time of cancellation.

Cancellation Charges

  • More than 21 days before the date of commencement of the tour:
    There would be a processing fee of 2000 levied.

  • Between 15 and 21 days before the date of commencement of the tour: Cancellation charge of 50% of the total package cost.

  • Between 10 and 14 days before the date of commencement of the tour:
    Cancellation charge of 75% of the total package cost.

  • Within 10 days or less before the date of commencement of the tour, or in case of no-show:
    100% cancellation charge. No refund shall be payable.

Important Notes

  • Any non-refundable or non-amendable components (including but not limited to hotel bookings, permits, special vehicle arrangements, or train/toy train tickets) shall be charged in full, irrespective of the time of cancellation.

  • Refunds, if applicable, will be processed within a reasonable time period after deduction of cancellation charges and any bank or payment gateway fees.

  • In case of early departure, unused services, or voluntary curtailment of the tour, no refund shall be admissible.

  • The tour operator reserves the right to amend or update this cancellation policy in accordance with supplier terms and prevailing regulations.

Child Policy

Child Policy

Children below 5 years of age (Infants / Toddlers)

  • Complimentary stay without an extra bed.

  • Meals, if any, shall be payable directly as per hotel policy.

  • No separate seat will be provided in the vehicle for sightseeing or transfers.

Children between 5 and 10 years of age

  • Accommodated without an extra bed, sharing the room with parents/guardians.

  • The meal plan shall be the same as that of the accompanying parents/guardians.

  • One seat in the vehicle will be provided for the child for all transfers and sightseeing.

Children above 10 years of age

  • Considered as an extra adult for accommodation, meals, and vehicle seating.

  • Accommodated with an extra bed or mattress, sharing the room with parents/guardians.

Important Notes

  • The age of the child shall be calculated as on the date of commencement of the tour.

  • Maximum room occupancy is subject to hotel policies and applicable local regulations.

  • Extra beds are generally provided in the form of a mattress on the floor, subject to hotel standards and availability.

  • Hotels may request proof of age of the child at the time of check-in. In such cases, it is the responsibility of the accompanying parent/guardian to provide valid documentation.

  • In the event of any age-related discrepancy resulting in reclassification of the child by the hotel, any additional charges arising thereof shall be borne directly by the guest and settled on the spot with the hotel.

  • In case of bad weather, poor road condition, local or political disturbance, security reasons, or any other unforeseen circumstances, the operations team may decide to make changes in the itinerary. Every effort will be made to consult the guests in such eventuality, however, the decision of the operations team will be final and binding on the guests.
  • In case of young or older persons or persons with health issues or disabilities, consult your doctor about the itinerary. Also if any special arrangement is needed, such information should be given to our team in advance before confirmation of the tour.
  • Arunachal Pradesh is very remote place, so all hotels in this region are basic to very very basic.
  • Road conditions from Bhalukpong to Tawang are very bad
  • To visit Arunachal Pradesh & Nagaland, Indian national requires Inner Line   Permits. Permits are issued in Guwahati which takes 2-3 working days.
  • Documents required: 4 passport size photographs, 1 Photo identity,1   Address proof.
  • For Madhuri lake and Bumla pass need a additional vehicle.
  • Room heaters will be chagebale .
  • Any dispute arising is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Siliguri irrespective of any competence court present at the place of dispute.
